Periodically, the District partners with local businesses or other agencies to offer customers free water-wise gardening classes and workshops. As landscape irrigation accounts for a significant amount of water usage, these classes can be very valuable to help customers not only survive, but thrive during these lean water times.

Currently the District is not hosting any classes, but sustainable landscape classes are offered throughout the year through our water wholesalers as shown below:

  • San Diego County Water Authority

WaterSmart landscapes incorporate elements of sustainable landscaping such as healthy, living soils, climate-appropriate plants, high-efficiency irrigation and rainwater harvesting, and generate many environmental and community benefits. The Water Authority can help you create your own WaterSmart landscape with free WaterSmart landscape classes and on-demand videos. Learn more about the WaterSmart classes...

  • Metropolitan Water District of Southern California
Metropolitan offers free virtual classes in landscape design and irrigation principles to help you plant, care for and maintain a beautiful water efficient garden. Choose from several class themes to address your garden’s needs. All classes are led by Green Gardens Group virtual instructors.  Learn more about Metropolitan's classes...
