Despite having millions of dollars invested in water and sewer pipelines, reservoirs and treatment plants, the District’s most valuable asset is the staff it employs.

Vallecitos staff must perform well on individual, pre-employment tests to ensure the most qualified candidate is selected to serve more than 100,000 residents living and working within the District’s 45-square-mile service area. In addition, many staff members have additional education, certifications, training, and experience far above the requirements of their job.

But that’s not all. After coming aboard, staff is encouraged by the District to pursue continuing education, such as completing classes for water distribution and wastewater operations at local colleges, or working towards certifications offered through the California Department of Health, American Water Works Association, and the California Water Environment Association, just to name a few.

The end result is an exceptional team of more than 100 well-versed water professionals ready, willing and able to handle every aspect of water, disposal and reclamation – solidifying our title as Water and Wastewater Specialists.
