The Geographical Information Systems (GIS)/Mapping Department allows the District through a pictorial representation to view locations, density, property information, topography, easements and District facilities.

The GIS Department maintains and operates the GIS/Mapping system by creating a digital infrastructure database. Information is compiled from private development as-built plans, capital project improvements and inter-agency coordination. This information is then manipulated by the GIS Department to create maps, plans, reports, and statistical analysis.

The goal of the GIS Department is to service the District with mapping and data that can be analyzed for research and historical documentation. This information can be used by the public and District staff as an integral part of the Vallecitos Water District functionality.

Advancements in technology have made it possible for the GIS/Mapping to provide accessible, accurate and functional data to mobile devices within the District. GIS/Mapping functionality allows the District detailed documentation and asset management capabilities.
