Fourth graders get a chance to inspire water conservation through pen

calendar winners

Each year, the Vallecitos Water District promotes water awareness through a calendar contest available to all fourth graders in its service area. The top three drawings go on to represent the District in the regional North County Water Agency calendar for the following year.

Besides being featured in the calendar, winners receive a gift card, recognition from the Vallecitos Board of Directors and their calendar drawing featured in “Between the Pipes” – Vallecitos' quarterly newsletter.

Congratulations to the 2016 calendar contest winners from the San Marcos Unified School District! The students were recognized by Vallecitos' Board of Directors at the June 1, 2016 Board meeting as follows:

  • 1st place: Aiyanna Konatsu from Richland Elementary (Drawing top middle)
  • 2nd place: Yanitza Morales from Richland Elementary (Drawing top right)
  • 3rd place: Alyssa Arzola from Alvin Dunn Elementary
    (Drawing middle right)

All winners received Amazon gift cards and the Facebook "fan favorite" winner, Alyssa Arzola, also won a frozen yogurt party compliments of Menchie's San Marcos Grand Plaza. Vallecitos extends its sincere appreciation to Menchie's and all of the students who participated in this year's contest!
